Sinn Sisamouth is undoubtedly the king of Cambodia’s golden era of music, even half a century after his death. He was born in Stung Trebg province on August 23rd, 1932 and is presumed to have been executed in 1976.

Ros Sereysothea
Ros Sereysothea is widely considered the greatest female vocalist from the Cambodian “Golden Age” of film and music, a period from 1955 - 1975. She was born in Battambang, Cambodia on November 6th, 1948 and is presumed to have died during the Khmer Rouge genocide, between 1975 and 1979.

Pen Ran
Pen Ran was one of the top iconic female singers of Cambodian in the 60s and 70s. Her music is a delightful mix of playful and soulful. She was born in Battambang in 1944 and disappeared by 1979. With her powerful and captivating voice, she is considered the second leading singer of Cambodia, though her style is versatile and unique. Her career started in 1963 and she began recording duets with Sinn Sisamouth and Ron Sereysothea in 1966, which increased her popularity. Together, she made Cambodian music recognized worldwide. Today, her original recording on Single (45RPM) and 33 1/3 LP is available on Apple Music, Youtube Music, and Spotify, just to name a few.

Im Songsoeum
Im Songsoeum was born in Kampong Preah, Cambodia in 1943 and passed away in Battambang on March 16, 1972. He was a well-respected artist of his time and remembered for singing alongside Huoy Meas, Ros Sereysothea, and Chun Vann.

Meas Saman was a Cambodian singer and comedian who collaborated with many of the famous singers of his time. He was reportedly executed by the Khmer Rouge for refusing to stop playing music.

So Savoeun was born June 1st, 1945 in Kampong Speu, Cambodia and currently lives in France. Her husband, the famous songwriter Kem Em, composed most of her songs. She still occasionally performs in Cambodia and France.

Mao Sareth was born into a family of musicians from Battambang, Cambodia in 1944 and is presumed to have died during the Khmer Rouge genocide between 1975-1979. She was among the top singers.

Chhun Vanna
Chhun Vanna was born in Kampuchea Krom around the year 1940 and was raised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After the fall of Phnom Penh, she took her 8 children to Svay Rieng where 5 died, but she was able to escape to a camp on the Thai-Cambodian border, and eventually came to the USA as a refugee in 1981. She died in Stockton, CA on January 17th, 2019.

Chhuon Malay was born in Cambodia in 1941. She was known for singing many Western covers. She managed to escape to the United States as a refugee and died ion March 4th, 2012 in Ohio, USA.

Haim Sovan
Haim Sovvan (ហែម សុវណ្ណ) is currently living in Cambodia. She won a musical contest in 1967. Her solo and duet recordings with Sinn Sisamouth are the most recognizable price of her musical career. She still performs songs on special occasions and join the musical contest as a judge.

Keo Setha is not only the early actress in the 60 but also a singer. She was lucky to be alive during the genocide. She had been married and lived peacefully after the war. Mrs Keo passed away in 2021, age 77.

Peou Vannary
Peou Vannary (ពៅ វណ្ណារី) is an iconic female pop/rock singer since early 1970s. She was a late entrant in the thriving Cambodian rock and pop music scene. Vannary was somewhat unique among other female Cambodian pop singers of her time, due to her relaxed vocal style and ability to accompany herself on acoustic guitar in the mode of an American singer-songwriter. She could also speak English and specialized in translated versions of American/British pop songs. Her most widely-known recording today is a cover of James Taylor’s "You've Got a Friend" with Khmer lyrics.

Sieng Dy
Sieng Dy was born in 1945. She was an Cambodian singer/actress. She was mostly known for her beautiful singing voice in films she appeared in. Such as Apsara (1966) and La Joie de Vivre (1969). She sang along side with Sinn Sisamouth in Apsara (1966). She was also known for her songs in La Joie de Vivre (1969) when she sang "Song of Hopelessness" and Pen Ran's song "Rom a Go-Go". As of December 3, 2020, Those are her only known acting credits. Her singing and acting career ended shortly when the Khmer Rouge began in 1975. Sieng Dy (later known as Princess Sieng Dy after marrying a member of the Sisowath family), also was from a musical family, with sisters So Sovinra and Sieng Vanthy also being famous voices of the era. She had also made an appearance as herself in the 2014 documentary, Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll (2014). She later passed away in a United States hospital after a bad fall at 12:40 pm on August 18, 2019 in Lakewood, California, USA.
