Preserving Cambodia’s “golden age” of pop music (1955-1975)
The Cambodian Vintage Music Archive (CVMA) is a US 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2010 to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the legacy of the musicians and composers from Cambodian’s “Golden Era” (pre-1975, before the Khmer Rouge destroyed the film and music industry) and to assist the collectors and families of the artists with financial compensation.
Creating a digital archive
CVMA seeks to professionally archive all existing recordings and documentation concerning pre-1975 Cambodian music, along with written and oral history of the artists.
Sharing our work
CVMA is involved in re-issuing the music in its original vinyl format and hi-fi digital transfers. We engage the public through social media and cultural events to promote the original artistic intent of the music and legacy of the industry.
Support for surviving artists
CVMA actively supports surviving artists and their families and collectors by assisting them to obtain intellectual copyright control and by making direct periodic donations.
